"Drive for a Better Life"

Indonesian automotive industry, which arising since the 1960s, has grown together with the global automotive industry and the country's economic. The development is not only seen on the product output but also on the drive and attraction of the sector toward its supporting industries and other related industries. Moreover, the development is also seen on its contribution to industrial and development growth of the country. The current financial crisis has forced the industry to face serious challenges such as how to maintain the innovations to produce high quality products with up-to-date designs at reasonable price, and at the same time, efficient and environmentally friendly.

Realizing the current roles and challenges of the industry, IIMS 2009 endorsed the theme of "Drive for a Better Life", meaning that the national automotive industry will keep on supporting people toward a better life.

A Better LifeA better life is a quality life. IIMS 2009, which is the 17th automotive exhibition to be held, is expected to be the benchmark of the national automotive industry that pays more attention to the environment. Especially on areas related to the production process, the product itself, and the technology - and thus creating higher value and aesthetics in life. Developments in automotive technology are also emphasized on creating environmentally-friendly technology which will lead to a healthier, safer, and more comfortable driving experience.

Contribution to Economics Indonesian automotive industry is an industry with multiplier effects. Starting from the production of components, vehicle production & assembly line, distribution & sales network to the after-sales service, the industry absorbs huge work force. In addition, the industry also helps the growth of other industries, such as financing and insurance. The development of automotive industry and the related industries provides huge contribution for tax income. The industry itself is currently the 4th largest contributor for the country's tax income. Furthermore, the high growth of national automotive industry and the sizeable market potential could attract foreign investors to develop their business in Indonesia.
The current global crisis is a challenge for any business, including automotive, to be more creative and innovative so they can continue making breakthroughs in order to remain survive and growing.

Drive for a Better LifeOn the processing and production levels, automotive industry is facing challenges to create technology innovations that use environmentally-friendly materials, to increase the use of local contents and local labors. On the value level, the automotive industry's result (the products) must be able to increase the quality of customers' life and the environment. High quality products (or the vehicles) must show their excellence characteristic not only in the design that fulfills high aesthetical value, but also on the comfort, safety, mobility, and user-friendly technology.

Unquestionably, the better life theme should be supported by the related industries, such as environmentally-friendly components and fuel, so that the emission will also have better quality.
IIMS 2009 will be the venue for Indonesian automotive industry showing their ability as one of the pillars of creative economic development as well as the place for automotive users and enthusiasts to see and enjoy the development of Indonesian automotive industry.
